Jim has exceptional operational and entrepreneurial experience. He was born and raised in Tacoma where his family founded and managed Milgard Windows. Through the hard work of Jim and his family, Milgard Windows became one of the storied names of manufacturing companies in the Pacific Northwest. Jim had a variety of operating roles within Milgard including serving as Northern Area Service Manager and Manager of the Commercial Sales Division. Milgard Windows was sold in 2001 to Masco Corporation, a $7 billion building products company. Jim continued to work for Masco for another 2 years as VP of Manufacturing.
As an active private equity investor since 2003, Jim has both deep experience as well as a broad network of contacts. Jim has invested in over 20 venture capital companies ranging from seed to later stage companies and has invested alongside other well-known firms such as Benchmark Capital, Sequoia Capital and Khosla Ventures.
In addition to his advisory role with Swiftsure, Jim is the founder and CEO of Pacific Mountain Products, a forest products company that specializes in selling floral evergreen products directly to customers on the floral exchange in Europe.
Jim is an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing and hunting. He and his wife Jennifer have two daughters who are accomplished alpine skiers on the Sun Valley ski team. He and Jennifer also run the Great Day Foundation focusing on children’s education and medicine in the Pacific Northwest
